How did you realize you want to do cs

  • Mechanical engineering is different than computer science
  • create functions, programs and algorithms.
  • CSA can help solidify your knowledge on computer science
  • Might not be easy but important to learn
  • Many different majors require programming experience and logical thinking background
  • Cog sci is psychology+computer science
    • UX UI
    • Get technical skill from computer science
  • In csa you can learn how to apply programming skills
    • She realized what she was creating could be used in real world

Hardest part

  • Having error messages (syntax errors)
    • Solution: try to google search it
  • Egos
    • People are not very kind and brag
    • Solution: focus on you own path
  • Theory behind CS
  • Different structures
  • HS to college compsci is different
  • Hard to find the motivation
    • Feeling not good enough
    • Solution: having a purpose to apply cs to
  • Programming logic (syntax)
  • Starting compsci later (as a senior)
    • Solution: having mindset to go above and beyond
  • Not having an organized structure
    • Solution: don't get so stuck on a plan, just start coding

Project based learning

Will see in...

  • operative courses
  • Computer science major
  • Most UCs
  • Study in groups and work with others

Apply compsci in non-compsci majors?

  • Copy pasting and converting data types
  • Can do advanced calculations
  • Program analysis
  • graphing/statistics (R )

Job with school or professor

  • Go to office hours
  • Set yourself apart from the other students (go above and beyond)
  • TA, code ninjas, LG,
